tax breaks baby, and grants, and two incomes, assuming theyre shared, and the deep satisfaction that is a product of feeling you have someone securely committed to being your companion, and two heads better than one. ;-)
If I were to do something on the "advantage" (?) of marriage, I might talk to a couple celebrating their 50th anniversary.
But I'm unclear on the "so what?" question--why do this story? Is there some question about the benefits of marriage? As April says, there are financial benefits (and insurance). Others would also point out the costs.
How about a marriage counsellor? My father the preacher used to require premarital counselling with couples he was going to marry.
How well prepared are young people (as in...let's see...Utah?) for marriage? There's got to be a reason that Utah's divorce and battery rate (and use of antidepressants) is at or higher than the national average.
