Hanging at the Field House

The Field House

Bodybuilding and cardiovascular activities are not the only reasons students make their way over to the Field House on the campus of USU on a daily basis.

The Field House is full of students, both men and women, who are looking to get in shape, build bigger muscles and attract the opposite sex at the same time, according to Nate Wood, a junior accounting major and avid user of the Field House at USU.

“I go to the Field House to build bigger muscles,” Wood said, “But subconsciously I am there to try and impress the girls.”

Women, on the other hand, have a different agenda when at the Field House. “I go to the gym to workout, not to be hit on by a bunch of guys,” said Abbie Park, a nutrition and health major at USU. “I think it’s ridiculous how girls dress at the gym,” Park said, “I mean, who wears makeup and booty shorts to the gym?”

Every day, students use the Field House to escape the cares and stresses of school. “It’s a great place to meet new people and make new friends,” said Wood.

The Field House gives students the chance to exercise, play sports and try new things all for the cost of nothing. It is free for all students with an activities card which really pleases all users of the gym.

While the Field House may be socially healthy, it does however, offer some distractions to students. “Sometimes I go workout when I should be studying,” said Jordan Irving, a civil engineering student at USU. But overall, the Field House is viewed as a positive and beneficial part of student life at USU.

Cami Carlson, a student at USU said, “I feel so much better when I am working out.” Feelings of energy and productivity are just a few of the perks that come from using the resources at the Field House.
